My name is Kip Shubert and I an the founder of Warriors on Purpose. I am a 48 yr old father of four beautiful children. I have been an educator, coach, and motivational speaker for over two decades. A decorated middle school teacher, Oklahoma All-State Coach, and an award winning collegiate athlete. I am also a recovering alcoholic.
Throughout most of my life I constantly wondered where my life was going. I never felt worthy or good enough. I spiraled into a darkness I had never dreamed could affect me. Homeless and clinging to my teaching career I hit my bottom. Through my struggles I learned to fight for the life I knew was there for me.
My battles and my addiction helped me to overcome the emotional issues and fear that had always held me back. Through God and my experiences in life I have come to find and fulfill my purpose. You can read more about my struggle with addiction on my website at Warriors on Purpose.
Warriors on Purpose is my life’s passion. Guiding people to find a life of purpose. Offering assistance to overcoming life’s obstacles and fears. Helping you to see your dreams come true. Supporting people in recovery. Giving them the tools to become Warriors on Purpose. Sharing my story with those in recovery and today’s students to give them the hope and fire to break free of what holds them back.
We are here to help you not only find your purpose but to live on purpose. We look forward to you becoming a Warrior on Purpose.
This is one of the first stories I posted to my blog – True Change – Go All In!
For a peaceful, purposeful, free life we have to be willing to go all in.
We have to experience change within us to be able to achieve all out of life that we were destined to receive. To truly change we have to go all in! Whether it be in sobriety, our family, our profession, relationships, or our walk with God it takes us going all in to be successful.
We must let go of the notion that we know best, that we can run the show. I believe many of us have proven over and over that we just cant manage our own life. Until we can fully surrender control and humbly commit to change our life will be a struggle of steps forward and steps backward. It sounds simple and to be honest, it really is.
Some of us had to hit rock bottom to see that we were powerless and our lives had become unmanageable. Then there are others who can see bottom and realize change is needed before completely crashing and burning. But at some point we all realize that there are areas of our life that just never get better, that no matter how hard we try it seems to get worse. The following holds true to all areas of life and all circumstances.
When life requires a change we must relinquish total control and give 100% of our faith and trust to God. Why not give him a chance to control for awhile after all didn’t we prove we were not that great at it already. But once we give up total control and are willing to trust in God to drive we must not just sit and wait.
We must go all in with our action. Doing what we know is right, doing what is in front of us that day, knowing for sure that God will direct us. We don’t have to worry about getting a little off track because if we are all in God will put us back on the right path. We practice this only one day at a time so we are not overwhelmed with the change in its entirety.
As we do this we begin to change the way we think and act. God working in us and through us begins to show in all that we do. We are all in and life begins to go all in with us.
From my experience, change can be such a difficult task to think about, much less begin. If you are willing and honestly give God the control of your life the change has begun. You see it with your eyes, receive it in your heart, and speak it with your mouth daily.
Just give a try, LET GO AND LET GOD. Can it be that simple, let me tell you it really is. So why not…..GO ALL IN!!
